Bahçe kulübesi - Garden shed

Oldukça yoğun geçen, bol inşaat faaliyeti icra etmemiz gereken bir yaz daha bitiyor.
Yazın başında tadilat olayımız annemlerin evinin tadilatı ile başladı ve bir türlü bitemedi. Bu arada bir küçük böcek bizim geçen seneki tadilatta hala yeterince iyi görünüyor olması sebebiyle yenilemediğimiz bodrum katta ki banyomuzu yenilememize vesile oldu. Bugün, küçücük bahçeme yıllardır isteyip te bir türlü nasıl olacağına karar veremediğim bahçe kulübemi paylaşmak istiyorum. Pinterest'te gördüğüm bir kulübe bütün sorularıma cevap oldu. Bir arkadaşımla ben, bu kulübeye sahip olabilmek için günlerce uğraştık. İnce hesaplardan sonra Bolu'dan ahşap getirttik fakat yaz olması ve bütün marangozların yoğun olmaları sebebiyle bir kamyon emprenye ahşapla ortada kaldık. Sonra bir marangoz bulduk, ahşapları oraya götürdük ama kısa bir süre sonra onun bunu yapamayacağına kanaat ederek ahşapları eve getirdik kendimiz yapalım diye... Teknik yetersizliğimizi anlamamız çok uzun sürmedi ve başka bir marangoz bulduk, yine ahşapları evden alıp marangoza götürdük. Ahşaplar Ankara'da dolandı durdu günlerce, ödediğimiz nakliye parası neredeyse ahşaba ödediğimiz parayı aşacaktı ki sonunda küçük evlerimize kavuştuk. Mutlu son...

A busy summer that we had to perform many constructive work is coming to an end.
In the beginning of summer, our construction work started with the renovation of my parents house. In the meantime a small bug, lead us to renew our basement bathroom which we hadn't touched last year in our renovation as it was still in good shape. You may be wondering the relation between a small bug and a renovation process but I will explain later...
Today I want to share my garden shed that I'd been wanting for a while but not able to decide on the shape or size to fit in my tiny garden. The garden shed that I spotted on Pinterest became an answer to all my questions. Together with a friend we worked on how to make this happen for days. After detailed calculations we had our wood transported from Bolu, but as it was summer all the carpenters were occupied so we were left alone with a lorry of wood that we had no idea were to take. In the next step we found a carpenter and took all the wood to him but after a short while decided he will not make it to our wish so we took the wood home to construct it ourselves. A couple of days was enough for us to realize that we were technically incapable so we found another carpenter and transported all the planks to his place. The money we payed for the transportation of the wood was just about to exceed the cost of wood but in the end we got hold of our garden sheds... Happy end...

Kağıt rölyef ve diğerleri

Bahçe tadilat sürecimiz o kadar uzun sürünce tabii bende boş durmadım. Arkadaşım Gamze, Ece Aymer'in atölyesinde kağıt rölyef kursu veriyordu ve bende kapatmaya karar verdiğimiz kapı girişimiz için bir kağıt rölyef tablo yapmayı aklıma koyunca soluğu atölyede aldım. Çok hoşuma giden bir resim buldum ve Gamze'nin, resimdeki otlar seni zorlar, kısa sürede bitirmekte zorlanırsın demesine rağmen bu resmi o kadar sevdim ki, vazgeçmek istemedim... ve tabii sonuçta tablomu hızla bitirebilmek adına geceler boyu kağıt kestim evde. Neyse ki hedeflediğim sürede bitirmeyi başardım. Bu çalışma için aynı resimden 12-13 adet fotokopiyi kesmem gerekti. Çektiğim resimden pek anlaşılmıyor ama bu kadar katmandan oluşuyor bu çalışma...

While our garden renovation took a long time I didn't stay idle in this period. My friend Gamze was giving a paper tole workshop in Ece Aymers studio and I went there to make a paper tole artwork for the closure we'de decided to build at the door entry. I found a picture that I loved and although Gamze had  told me that it would be hard for me to finish this picture in such a short time, I didn't change my mind... and I ended up cutting paper at home during many nights. In the end I was able to finish it according to my plan. For this work I had to cut 12-13 photocopies of the same picture. Although it is not visible in the picture, this work consists of this many number of layers...

Evdeki derileri yırtılmış eski sandalyelerimi yine aynı mekanda kullanılmak üzere kaplayarak kullanılır hale getirdim. Bu kumaşı hatırladınız mı? Bakmak isterseniz....

I covered the old chairs that were hanging around in the house  so as to use them in the same place. Do you remember this fabric? If you want to have a look....

Küçük bahçe - Tiny garden

Bu yaza damgasının vuran en önemli şey bahçe tadilatımız oldu. Aslında eşimin ameliyatından sonra en önemli şey demeliyim, neyse ki eşim de epey bir süredir "yapılacak işler" listesinde duran kalça protezi ameliyatını oldu ve tez zamanda tekrar normal hayata geri döndü.
Evimizin minik bahçesi çimle kaplıydı ve biz çimleri suladıkça bahçe, evin etrafındaki betonla beraber aşağı çöküyordu. Defalarca betonu ve üzerindeki taşları değiştirmeme rağmen yine çöküntü oluyor, taşlar patlıyor ve tatsız bir görüntü ile bizi baş başa bırakıyordu... Bu kez bir aydan fazla süren bir tadilatla kalıcı çözüme ulaşmak adına bir adım attık. Umarım...
Daha da ötesi artık bahçemizde çim yok. Dünya bu kadar hızla susuzluğa doğru giderken çok miktarda suyu çimleri canlı tutmak adına bahçeye akıtmak bana çok kötü geliyordu zaten... Neyse lafı uzatmayayım, sizi resimlerle baş başa bırakayım...

The most important thing about this summer was our garden renovation. Actually I should say it's the  most important thing following my husbands operation. My husband has had the hip prothesis operation that was waiting in our "to do" list for quite a while and has rapidly recovered back to his normal life.
Our tiny garden was covered with grass and as we watered the grass, the garden was sinking down together with the concrete surrounding the building. Although we had fixed the concrete and changed the tiles a couple of times we always ended up in the same unpleasant view. This time with more than a month of contruction work we took a step for a permanant solution. I hope...
Now we don't have grass in the garden. Actually while the world is rapidly going to drought, I was feeling bad about pouring loads of water to the garden in the sake of keeping the grass alive... Now I'll leave you with the photos...

Yaz çağıran - Summer caller

Yarın liseden (hatta ortaokul ve ilkokuldan) arkadaşlarımla buluşacağız bir arkadaşımızın evinde, kahvaltıda. Daha önce de Mart ayında niyetlenmiştik bu işe ama hatırlarsanız (yada hatırlamazsanız buradan bakabilirsiniz)  öyle bir kar yağmıştı ki arabamı bulamamıştım karların altında. Kimse gitmeyi başaramadığı için iptal olmuştu...İşte bu dıngırtıyı da o arkadaşımın bahçesi için yaptım. Çok sevdim, kendime de yapacağım sanırım bir tane.

Tomorrow we will meet in one of our friends house from high school (even secondary and primary school) for breakfast. We intended to do this before in March but if you can remember (or if you can't remember you can look from here) there was such a great amount of snow that I was unable to find my car under it. It was cancelled as no one could get there... Here I made this dangle for that friends garden. I loved it too much, I think I will make one for myself also.

Hani bilirmisiniz "kabus yakalayan" diye bir şey vardır. Nereye özgü bilmiyorum annem bana Malta dan getirmişti bir zamanlar. Bu örümcek ağı gibi birşeydir, üzerinde tüyler, boncuklar olan. İşte buna Rüya yakalayan denir miş... Yatak odana asarmışsın kötü rüyaları yakalayıp seni korurmuş, en azından Malta lılar anneme böyle anlatmışlar, ben de hiç bu bilgiyi kontrol etmedim aslında çünkü çok sevdim bu açıklamayı.

Do you know that there is something called a "dream catcher". I don't know its origin, my mum had brought one for me from Malta years ago. This is something like a spider web and it has feathers, beads on it. These  are called "dream catcher"s... You would hang it in your bedroom and it would catch your bad dreams and protect you. At least this is what Maltese people told mum and I didn't check this info as I loved this explanation...

Bu "rüya yakalayan"lar dan aklıma geldi başlıkta kullandığım "yaz çağıran" kavramı. Balık var, kalpler var, cam nazar boncukları var (meali yaz gelsin artık ve yazıma nazar değmesin olabilir mesela- Neyse, arkadaşım üretsin kendi mealini)

The "dream catchers" made me think of the "summer caller" concept that I've used in the header. It has fish, hearts, glass evil eye beads (meaning may be, let the summer come and let it not be affected by the evil eye for example - whatever, my friend will generate her own meaning)

Şezlonglarım - My Chaise lounges

O kumaşı hakikaten kullanmaya kıyamadım, ama yine de benzer bir şey yapmaktan da kendimi alamadım. Aslında ilk projede tamamen o naylonlardan kurtulmak vardı aklımda ama sonra düşündüm ki çok sağlamlar. Kumaş yaparsam esneme ve yırtılma ihtimali olacak. O yüzden üzerilerine kaplama yaptım. İçine yumuşak ve pofuduk olsun diye biraz da elyaf kattım. Gerçi gergin bir şey yapsaydım belki de daha güzel olacaktı, bu sanki düz bir kumaşı üzerine sermişim gibi oldu. Ama hiiçç düzeltesim yok....

I really didn't have the heart to use that fabric for the chaise lounges but in end couldn't make myself to do something different. Initially my aim was to get rid of those nylons but aferwards I thought that they are very rigid. If I make them with fabric it may stretch or get torn. So I made a cover instead. I put some fiber inside so that they are fluffy and soft. But I think if I had done something tight it would have been better, this looks as if I layed some fabric on it. But I don't feel like correcting them...

Bunlarda komşumun çiçekleri. Öyle güzel duruyorlar ki bir arada. O da bahçesindeki çimleri yeniliyor, o yüzden toprak var geri planda. Aslında bizim bahçenin çimleri de berbat durumda, sanırım bizimde yapmamız gerekiyor aynı işi ama hiç gözüm kesmiyor bu yenilenmeyi. Ben en iyisi bu senede çimler canlansın diye dilekte bulunayım...

And these are my neighbours flowers. They look very pretty all together. She is renewing the grass in her garden, thats why there is only soil in the background. In fact our grass is in a terrible state, I think we need to do the same thing but I don't have the nerve for this. I think I will stick on to wishing that my grass wakes up this summer.
