Karlı tepsi - Tray with snow

Bu tepsiyi yıllar önce yapmıştım. Mutfağımda da bir rafın üzerinde dekorasyon niteliğinde duruyor ve nedense  pek kullanmıyorum. Sanırım öteki hafif tepsileri kullanmak daha pratik geliyor. Şimdi hava buzzz gibi olupta kar yağınca paylaşasım geldi...

I'de made this tray years ago. It stands in my kitchen on a shelf as a decorative item and somehow I don't use it much. I think it's because I find it easier to use the other light weight trays. Now as the weather is ice cold and snowing I wanted to share it...

Kedili kutu - Box with cat

Kısa tatilimiz bitti ve evimize döndük Pazartesi gece yarısı itibariyle. İki gündür sanki haftalardır tatildeymişim gibi yapmam gereken işler, görüşmek istediğim arkadaşlar, vs. modunda sokaklardayım. Tabii ki bu yapılacaklar benim dört günlük yokluğumda birikmedi, sadece tatil yapmış olmanın enerjisi ile aylardır yapmak istediğim "yapılacaklar" listemi biraz toparlıyorum.
Bugün sabah "Ordan Burdan Hayattan" blogunun sahibi Yasemin sabah beni arayarak "Dolu Dolu Mutfak" Aslı ile beraber yakınlarda bir kafe de oturduklarını söyleyerek beni oturdukları yere çağırdı. O kadar çok iş vardı ki aklımda bugün için yapmayı planladığım ama teklifin cazibesine kapılarak kısa kalma düşüncesiyle yanlarına gittim. Keyifli başlayan sabahım aldığım bir haber ile keyifli bir heyecanın kalp çarpıntısı içinde geçti ve tabii ki yapılacak işler listemi tamamlamak bir başka zamana kaldı...
Her ne kadar bir çok şeyi atlamış olsam da annemin benden istediği bir şeyi yapmak amacıyla onların evine gitmeyi başardım, gitmişken de anneme seneler önce yapmış olduğum bu ahşap kutu gözüme ilişti ve onu fotoğrafladım. Yeni bir şeyler üretemesem de allahtan geçmişten gelen stoklarım sağlam... Gittiğim bir çok yerde yapmış olduğum ve unuttuğum bir şeylere rastlıyorum...

Our short holiday ended and we returned back home on Monday night. Since two day's I'm on the streets to handle my to do list and to see friends that I wanted to see as if  I've been on holiday for weeks. Of course all these things that needed to be done did not accumulate in these four day's, it's only that with the energy that comes from having had a holiday I'm doing things that I needed to do in the previous months.
This morning Yasemin owner of blog "Ordan burdan hayattan" called and told me that they were sitting at a cafe nearby with Aslı from "Dolu dolu mutfak"and called me to the cafe. There were loads of things that I wanted to do today but I was carried away with the attractivity of the suggestion so I went there with the idea of only staying a short while. My morning that started in  pleasure turned in to a heart beat of a joyfull excitement with a message that I recieved and of course completing my "to do" list was postponed to a further date...
Although I skiped loads of things, I managed to go to my parents house to do something that my mum had asked of me and when I was there my eye caught and pictured this box that I had made mum years ago. Even when I don't produce anything new, my inventory from the past is sound... In loads of places I go I run into something that I'de produced but I'de forgotten.

Tembel kutu - Lazy box

Bugün sabah yeni tanıştığım 2 blog arkadaşım ile birlikte beraber bu yeni arkadaşlarımdan birinin evinde kahvaltıya davetliydim. Evine davetli olduğum arkadaşımın da, diğer arkadaşımın da yemek blogları var. Hal böyle olunca sabah başlayan kahvaltımız akşama kadar sürdü. Çok keyifle sohbet ettik, birbirimizi tanıdık, ben her ikisini de çok sevdim yeni arkadaşlarımın. Yasemin çok güzel bir kahvaltı hazırlamıştı bize, buna Aslı'nın da Browni si eklenince benim durumum şu aşağıdaki kutunun dekopaj resmindeki gibi oldu...
Bu kutuyu yapalı bir kaç yıl oldu... Aslında bu kutu burnumun dibinde büyük takılarımı koyduğum bir kutu olmasına rağmen o kadar alışmışım ki varlığına fark etmiyordum, bugün kahvaltı dönüşünde dikkatimi çekti ve hemen fotoğrafladım paylaşmak üzere...

Today I was invited to one of my new blog friends house for breakfast together with another new blog friend. My friend who invited me and my other new friend both have  food blogs. Well,as this was the case our breakfast started early in the morning and ended in the evening. We had a pleasant chat, we got to know each other and I liked both of my new friends. Yasemin had prepared a lovely breakfast and with  Aslı's Brownie on top of that my situation was like the decoupage picture of the box below....
It has been a couple of years since I made this box... Although this is a box that I use to put my big jewellery pieces I wasn't aware of it because I'm so used to seeing it around I guess. I realized it after returning back from breakfast so I took a picture in order to share...

"Oda"daki kutu - Box in the "room"

Bu da "oda"da gözümün önünde olmasına rağmen görmediğim kutulardan biri. Bir şey eğer alışkanlık olmuşsa nasıl da gözünün önünde olmasına rağmen görmeyebiliyor insan?  Bu görmediğimiz şey eşya ise problem yok ama bazen hayatımızdaki insanlar da olabiliyor bu görmediklerimiz. Bugün bunu yazarken şunu düşündüm; çok yakınımızdaki insanlarla ilgili alışkanlıklarımız neticesinde görmediğimiz şeyleri kaçırmamak adına belki de yazmalıyız onlarla ilgili....

This is a box that although is in my sight I wasn't aware of. If something turns to be a habit how is it that one doesn't see it, although it is around them? If that thing is a belonging that's not a problem but sometimes these can be the people surrounding us. While writing these I was thinking; as of not to miss the things about people close to us maybe we should write about them...

Bu kutuyu yaparken kullandığım pasta rölyef, peçete tekniklerinin yanısıra yapmış olduğum ispirto eskitme yöntemini biraz anlatmak istedim... Dinlemek istermisiniz? Önce ahşap koyu bir renge boyanır(burada kahverengi), sonra verniklenir ve üstüne açık bir renk (burada beyaz) boya sürülür... Bir beze ispirto dökülür ve eskitilmek istenen yerler silinir ki genellikle köşeler silinse iyi olur... bu işlem bitincede keten yağı ve istenen renk yağlı boya karıştırılır, ahşabın üzerine sürülür ve bir bez yardımı ile istenen renk yakalnıncaya kadar silinir...

In adition to the relief paste and the napkin transfer I want to mention the alcohol antiquing method that I used on this box.... Care to listen? First the wood is stained in a dark color (brown here) then varnished and a light coat (white here) on top of that...Some alcohol is poured on a cloth and the parts that you want a antique look is wiped with this and usually the edges look fine when wiped... when this is done  you mix linseed oil with an oil color and apply this on top, then wipe it with a clean cloth till you get your desired look...

"Oda" derinliklerinde - In the depths of the "room"

Bugün, öğleden sonra bütün enerjimi toparlayarak aşağı kata indim. Daha hala ilgilenemediğim bir çok dolap vardı. Zaten kutuları da doldurmuş ama kapaklarını kapatıp, etiketleyip yerlerine de yerleştirememiştim. "Oda" daki mobilyaların arkasından, dolapların içinden neler çıktı neler. Muhtemeldir ki senelerdir oradalar... Bugün paylaşmak istediğim "tepsiler". Bunlar hatırladığım kadarıyla beni hayal kırıklığına uğrattıkları için (yoksa ben mükemmel yapmıştım aslında, hep o tepsilerin suçu...) atıldılar bir köşeye. Aslında bizim evimizde tepsilerimiz çok kıymetlidir çünkü onlar yeri gelir bizim televizyon karşısında yemek yeme sofralarımız olur diğer işlevlerinin yanı sıra... Mutfağım da küçük sayılabilecek bir mutfak... Bütün bunları da üst üste koyunca musluğun altında köpürtülerek yıkanabilecek ve az yer kaplayan tepsiler çok işlevsel oluyor... ve tabii İkeaaa evimizin herşeyiii (tepsi de bile). MDF tepsiler ise bu tanımların hiç birine uymaz... Ağır-taşıması zor, suya girmez-yıkanmaz, kibarca silinmesi de bana uymaz, yetmiyor gibi çok yer kaplar... Hangi akla uyup aldıysam...

Today in the afternoon I gathered all my energy and went downstairs. There were cupboards that I hadn't attended. Besides, although I had boxed my stuff I hadn't cloosed their lids and put them into their place. I found loads of things behind and inside the cupboards of the "room". Most probably they've been there for years... Today I want to share my "trays". As I remember these have been taken out of sight because they disappointed me (I made them perfectly but they are to blame...) Actually in our house trays are very precious as besides their other functions they serve as tables to eat in front of the TV... My kitchen can be considered as small... When all these came together trays that can be washed under the sink and that occupy little space can be very efficient... and of course Ikeaaa everything our house can need (even in trays) The MDF trays do not fit into any of these descriptions... They are heavy and hard to carry around, they can't be washed with water and it doesn't do me any good by only wiping them kindly and they occupy a big space... I don't know why I ever bought them...

Bahar geldi 2 - Spring has come 2

Daha önce paylaştığım kutularda kullandığım peçeteyi birde bu kasede kullanmıştım. Baktıkça bana keyif veriyor bu peçete deseni...

In this bowl, I used the same napkins that I had used for the previously shared boxes once more. This napkin pattern gives me joy, whenever I look.

Anahtar kutusu - Key box

İstanbul'da 5 günümün 4.sü de bitti. Her sabah erken saatte çıktım evden Taksim den Kadıköy'e vaktinde gidebilmek için. Bu NLP kursunun eğitimcisi ile ilk kez çalışıyorum. Çevirimi yaptım ama pekte eğlendim ve NLP öğretisi çok kafama yattı. Aslında birçoğumuzun bir şekilde içgüdüsel olarak bildiği, anladığı veya zaman içerisinde geliştirdiği tanımsız bir şeyin tanımlanmış hali. En azından ben kendim için öyle algıladım. Bütün bunları genç yaşlarımda öğrenmiş olsaydım hayatımı çok daha doğru, çok daha işlevsel ve tatminkar yaşayabilirmişim, bunu anladım. Kullandığımız kelimelerin ne kadar güçlü olduğunu bir kez daha öğrendim. Yani, sonuçta aynı anlamı veren 2 ayrı cümlenin, sadece kullandığımız kelimeleri ve/veya kurduğumuz cümlenin şeklini  değiştirmekle ne kadar farklı hissettirebileceğini öğrendim.

My 4th day of my 5 days in İstanbul has ended. I had to get out of the house early so as to be able to go from Taksim to Kadıköy on time. It's the first time that I've been working with this NLP trainer. I did my translation and I had a lot of fun. The NLP system made sence to me. Actually it's a definition of an undefined thing that most of us know, understand and develop subconsciously. At least that was so for me. If I had learned all these when I was young, I would have lived my life more full and content, this I understood. I learned that the language we use can be very powerful. 2 sentences, that lead us up to a meaning can make us and others feel very different by only changing our words and/or changing the structure of the sentence.

Bahar geldi - Spring has come

Saatler yaz saatine alındı, günler uzuyor, hava son bir kaç gün kadar hafiften ısınınca ben bahar geldi - yaz geldi coşkusu içindeydim ki bu sabah kar yağdı hafiften, akşamda oğlumla arkadaşını dershaneden alıp eve dönerken kar-dolu arası bir şey yağarak yolları beyazlaştırdı. Ankara da hava böyle bir seyir göstermeye devam ederse insanlar bahçelerinde köpek yerine penguen besleyecekler zannımca. Penguenlere hiç bir itirazım yok, hatta çok ta güzel olurdu ortalık o sevimli yaratıklarla dolsa, amaa artık havalara itirazım var... Neyse moralimi yüksek tutayım, bu ilk bahar-yaz hisli peçeteler ile yaptığım ahşap kutuları paylaşayım.

The time has been shifted to summer time settings, days are getting longer and when the weather was a liitle bit warm for the last couple of days I was in a exhilarated state because of the arrival of spring-summer, but this morning snow sprinkled a little and in the evening when I was returning home with my son and his friend something in between snow and hail covered the roads in white. I think, if the weather conditions of Ankara continue like thi,s people will have penguens instead of dogs in their gardans. I have no objection against penguens and I even think it would be nice to have loads of those nice creatures around us, but I do object at the weather... Anyhow, I want to keep my sprits high and share these boxes that I made with napkins that carry a spring-summer feeling.

Ekip çalışması - Teamwork

Arkadaşım ve sevgili komşum Nilgün (bana baykuş kolye ucunu alan) ve onun aracılığı ile tanıştığım arkadaşları, haftada bir atölye çalışması yapmak için bir mekan ayarlamışlar. Toplanıp ahşap boyama yapıyorlar. Tabii buraya pikniğe gider gibi yiyecek, içecek, bardak v.s götürüyorlar birde götürdükleri malzemeleri var. Aslında hiç ahşap boyama modunda değildim, bugün sadece ziyarete gitmiştim... ama ahşap boyamam geldi...bende yapmak istiyorum.... haftaya malzemelerimi organize edip bende onlara katılacağım sanırım. Çook canım çekti.... Onlar ekip çalışması yaptı... ben ise olay mahali fotoğrafçısı modundaydım...

My friend and my dear neighbour Nilgün (the person who got me my owl pendant) and some of her friends that I met through her have arranged a suitable place to meet once a week. They are comming together  to do some wood staining. Of course they are taking food ,beverages, glasses etc. and on top of this, their supplies. Actually I was not in a wood staining mode, I only had gone there for a visit, but my wood staining has come... I want to do it also... I think next week I will organise my supplies and join them. I want to do this so badly... they did their teamworh... I was the event location photographer...

Böyle hoş bir çalışma ortamı, herkes birbirine yardım ediyor, değerlendirmeler sonucu kararlar alınıyor...

This is such a nice work environment, everybody is helping each other, decisions are made after evaluations...

Tomorrow I will share a project with you.. It's a box that Husniye made for her nephew. ( the emboss part is the work of Tulin)... It's a wood embossing project... 

Kuşlu Ahşap Kutu- Wood box with bird

Bir süredir burada yazamıyorum. Geçen hafta boyu çalıştım ve dışarıdaki bu işimi bitirdiğim ve yeni objeler üretmeye hazır olduğum gün babamdan, "çabuk gel annen buzda düştü ve sanırım kolunu kırdı" diyen bir telefon aldım. O gününümüz tabiiki bir hastanenin acil servisinde neticelendi. Kırık kötü olduğu için bir başka doktora gittik ve o da ameliyat olması gerekiyor dedi. Annemin kalbinde bir problem var ve kalp doktoru da çok ciddi ve gerekli olmadığı sürece ameliyat olma lüksün yok senin deyince işler karıştı.  O yüzden de şu anda bu durumu nasıl çözebiliriz konusunda bir yol belirlemeye çalışıyoruz. Yada ameliyat gerekiyor demeyen doktoru dinlemeye gönüllüyüz hepimiz. Bugün aslında kardeşimin yanına İngiltereye uçuyorlardı ama tabii o da iptal oldu durumlar böyle olunca. Bu durumda, bugün burada eskilerde yaptığım bir objeyi paylaşabileceğim ancak. Bu, üzerinde dekopaj kuşlar olan küçük bir kutu. Umarım beğenirsiniz...

I havn't been able to write for a while. Last week I was working and the day I finished my work outside and was ready to produce more objects I got a phone call from my dad saying you have to come urgently because your mom fell on the ice and has probably broken her arm. That day ended in the emergency servise of an hospital. Because it's a bad broke we went to see another doctor and he said an operation was necessary. My mom has a heart condition and her heart doctor said that she does not have the luxury to have an operation if it's not severe. So at the moment we're trying to figure out how we can overcome this situation. Or we are willing to listen to the doctor that didn't say operation was necessary. This morning, they were supposed to fly of to the UK to be together with my brother and that had to be canceled also. Today I can only share something that I have done in the past. It's a small box, with decoupaged birds on it. Hope you like it...

Kapaklı peçete transferli kutu- Napkin transfered box with lid

2 gündür kendimi kötü hissediyordum, dün bütün gün yattım. Neyse ki bu sabah iyice kalktım ve hem blogumla ilgilenebiliyorum hemde akşama çok sevdiğimiz arkadaşlarımız yemeğe gelecek (oleyy) ufaktan birşeyler yapıyorum. Aslında tam olarak iyileşebilmiş değilim ama herkesin iyileşme tarzı farklı, bende yatarak, dinlenerek iyileşemem hiç, normal hayatıma devam ederek iyileşirim. Motivasyon, herşeyden önemli...
Bugün sizinle yapmış olduğum bir başka ahşap boyaması ve peçete tranferi uygulamış olduğum bir kutuyu paylaşmak istiyorum.

For the last 2 days I have been feeling bad and I slept all day yesterday. But today I woke up feeling much better so I can attend my blog and also tonight our very beloved friends are comming for dinner (hurreyy) and I'm preparing something. Actually I'm not perfectly well but everybody has a different method for healing and I can never heal by lying or resting I heal by continiuing my normal life. Motivation is the most important thing... Today I want to share with you another woodstaind work of mine that I have have done with napkin transfer.

Ahşap boyama kutu2 - Stained wood box2

Buda yaptığım kabartma süslemeli ahşap takı kutusu. Bu kabartmaların ahşap üzerinde güzel durduğunu düşünüyorum, siz ne dersiniz?
Bu kutunun çekimlerini Sera'mda  yaptım.-biz sera diyoruz çünkü benim her yıl Ege'den veya Güneyden getirdiğim ve inatla Ankara'ya uyumlamaya çalıştığım bitki ve ağaçlarımı barındırıyor burası -  Fotoğraftaki Mandalinalarımı gördünüzmü?

And this is an embossed jewellery box that I made. I think the embossing looks nice on the wood, what do you think?
I took pictures in my greenhouse. - we call this place as a greenhouse as it accomodates all the plants and trees that I bring from the Egean or Mediterenian regions and persistantly try to pace them to Ankara conditions. Did you see my TANGERINAS?

Ahşap Boyama Kutu - Stained Wood Box

Oğlum küçükken çok severdi kitap okutmayı. Geceleyin uykudan önce saatlerce kitap okuturdu bize. Kitap bitsin de uyusun diye bir paragraf filan atlamaya kalkışınca uyarırdı "xxx kısmını okumadın kitabın" diye ve baştan okuturdu "kafam karıştı" gerekçesiyle. İlkokula başlayıp okuma yazma öğrendiğinde "hadi artık sen kendin okuyabilirsin" dedim. BÜYÜK HATA. Kitaplar rafa kalktı. Şu an neredeyse 18 yaşında, zorla, rüşvet teklif ederek okuttuğum kitaplar hariç pek eline kitap almadı. 

Kitapların hepsini verdim birilerine ama bazıları içeriği olsun, resimleri olsun beni çok etkileyen kitaplardı ve sakladım. Bu kutu'nun üzerine transfer ettiğim resimler "Merdivenli Ada" adlı bir çocuk kitabının resimleri aslında. Çok severdim bu kitabı okumayı, içindeki resimler beni içine alırdı... bir amacım olmaksızın sakladım. Sonunda bir amaç edindirdim saklayışıma....

When my son was little he loved us to read books to him. Before his sleep he made us read for hours. When we tried to skip a paragraph so that the book comes to an end, he would warn us saying "you skipped XXX part" and would make us start from the beginning saying "I'm confused" as a justification. After he started school and learned to read, I said "now you can read by yourself". BIG MISTAKE. All the books were shelved. Now he's near 18 and has not read a book except the ones that I forced or bribed him to:))

I gave all the books away but some books with their content or pictures attracted me a lot and I kept them. The pictures that I tranfered on to this box is from a book called "Merdivenli ada - An island with stairs". I used to love reading this book and the pictures would atract me... with no purpose I kept it. In the end I was able to give a purpose for my keeping action...
