Tilda?

Her neyse, ben buna Tilda bebek diyeceğim, ilk denemem ("Makaradan çingene Tilda"'mı saymazsak).

Is this a Tilda or not? What is the difference between a Tilda doll and a fabric doll? Well I have no idea, so please forgive me if this is not OK according to Tilda doll specifications. I did a quick searck on the internet but I found out that Google has no idea on this subject (or I didn't come across any). By looking at the fabric doll pictures on the internet I would say a Tilda doll is a doll that has long legs and arms, has no breasts, has no mouth- just a pair of eyes on the face and sometimes a nose figure... But then comes Tilda bunnies and others, so I get more confused on the comman characteristics of a Tilda... Please inform me if you know...

Anyway I will call this a Tilda doll, my first trial ( except from my "spool gypsy Tilda") - My ones have a comman tait. Their hair looks as if they just jumped out of bed in a hurry-. Even though I don't know what a Tilda doll is, this certainly is my perception of one. I was jealous of the beautiful Tilda dolls that people had made so I thought I would give it a go. I had fun while sewing it,I think I will sew others in the near future... My only concern is, what is it that I'm sewing, Tilda or not? As of now I have the chance of getting the answer of this question I will go further to ask, why Tilda? Why is it called Tilda and not some other name?

Keyifli Pazarlar - Merry Sundays

Çalışma hayatımdan kalan alışkanlıkla Pazar gününü bekler sonrasında da gün sonuna doğru sıkılırım genelde... Sıkılınca da (Ankara'lılar bilir) tuttururum Kıtır'a gidip bir şeyler içelim diye. Genel ritüelimiz böyledir ama son iki haftanın Pazar günü pek keyifli geçti. Geçen hafta biliyorsunuz İstanbul'daydım ve Pazar günü Kuzenimle beraber evde, bu manzaranın eşliğinde derin sohbetteydik. Manzara zaten şahanede, çiçeklerde nasıl yakışmış manzaraya.

Although because of my left over habbit from my professional life I long for Sundays to come but usually get bored towards the end of the day... When I get bored I insist going out for a drink. Our general routine is like this but the Sundays of the last two weeks were quite pleasant. Last week as you know I was in İstanbul and this was the view that I was looking at while having a conversation with my cousin ... In any case the view is gorgeous but the flowers were really adding up.

And this Sunday we went to watch the horse races at the hippodrome. One friend had been telling us "lets go together, it's good fun" for quite a while. Although we'de intended to go a couple of times we couldn't but this Sunday we made it in the end. It really was fun. We went there just before the races started and ate and drank, made bets, won and lost but in the end had a nice and different Sunday. As I'de only seen a horse race in the movies, at first I felt bad about not having a elegant hat on my head but managed well with my head without a hat.

Üçgen çanta - Triangle bag

Geçen Cumartesi İstanbul'a gitmiştim, hatırlarsınız...

Last Saturday I went to İstanbul... My intention was to return back on Wednesday as I had a mosaics course on Thursday. But I urgently  had to return back to Ankara because of a work that came up all of a sudden. Normally it's the other way round, I usually have to go to İstanbul with a last minute call but this time as I was in İstanbul I had to come to Ankara. Although I returned back to Ankara I couldn't go to my mosaics course that I didn't want to miss at all. As you can understand my planned week wasn't congruent with my actual week.

I'de sewn this bag in the beginning of summer for the sake of getting over my curiosity about " do all bags have to be rectangle, can't a bag be triangle in shape?". Well it can be.. but as I havn't used it I don't know if it is practical to use.

Yarın sabah oğlumla İstanbul'a gidiyoruz... Onun okulu açılıyor ben ise uzundur İstanbul'a gitmemiştim, kuzenim, arkadaşlarım birkaç gün onlara takılır Çarşamba günü dönerim mozaik kursumu kaçırmamak için, bana da değişiklik olacak yani.... Şimdi uyusam iyi olur zira sabah erken çıkalım dedik...

It's all hand sewn (except the linning inside, of course). I had fun while sewing a leather bag so as you can understand by adding leather into my life I raised my hobby to a expensive level. As the leather was thick my sewing machine was incapable to sew so I had to sew all the seams by hand with a waxed thread.

Tomorrow morning we're going to go to İstanbul with my son... His school is opening and as for me, I hadn't gone to İstanbul for a long while. I will be together with my cousin my friends and return back on Wednesday in the sake of not missing my mosaic class. It will be a change of air for me... I'de better go to sleep now as we will be on the road early in the morning...

Tonight I had a quick look at my blog. I was shocked. All the pictures (afterwards I realized that they were only the pictures of 2013 posts), my background, my header picture were all gone, instead there were no entry signs all over. There are no pictures when you enter a post but the small pictures of linkWithin were still there. What!s this? Is there anybody who knows what I should do? Actually I started loading the pictures back but it seems it will not be possible to load them all so I let go. And also it does not let me load my polka dot background so I had to settle with the white...

NOT: Bu eklemeyi 13.10.2013 tarihi saat 23:11 de yapıyorum. Beş dakika öncesi itibariyle tüm 2013 resimlerini tekrar yükledim. Herhalde kesintisiz 10 saat çalışmışımdır bunu yapabilmek için. Şu an eklediğim resimlerin daha önceki resimlerle aynı olmasını hedeflediysemde bunu gerçekleştirebildim mi hiç fikrim yok. İnsan unutuyor haliyle.... Şu an arka plandaki puantiyelerim hariç her şey düzeldi (sanırım-umarım) ama arka planda asla ayarlama yapamıyorum....

NOTE: I'm writing this extention on 13.12.2013 at 23:11 hours. I managed to upload all the missing 2013 pictures as of 5 minutes earlier. I guess I had to spend 10 hours or so to be able to achieve this. Although my intention was to load the same pictures as before I have no idea if I could do this. People do forget... Except for my polka dot background everything is back in order (I think so - I hope so) but I cannot apply any settings for my background

Teneke objeler - Tin objects

Teneke objeleri seviyorum.

I love tin objects. It's quite possible to find me in a tin shop whenever I go abroad. In years I bought so many tin objects that my husband has a tin object fobia now, he always makes compliments!!! about my tin love.
Nowadays I'm looking for a picture like the one I mentioned in my " Anyone with an idea" post. I know that I've seen them in Turkey... I saw them and I didn't buy... I can remember where I saw them, Tepe home, Paşabahçe.... they 're not available... I pushed my luck an tried Mudo, English home.... I even tried the market.... No chance...
I bought these during my recent visit to Paris. My aim was to make zero shopping but I told myself tins won't count and I bought them....

Afiyet olsun

The weather has cooled so I always want to make soups. Recently the idea of making an onion soup popped up in my mind...This doesn't mean I know how to cook it... I surfed the internet, there are different recipies. I more or less applied a recipe that I found sensible amongst many that I read but it turned out to be yummy.
Very easy to make
- Melt butter
- Put 2 spoons of flour and brown it
- Add 3 onions and some garlic, fine chopped
- Add water
- Add meat cubes, salt and pepper
- Finally add some grated Parmesan cheese...

Bon appetite

Fikri olan? - Anyone with an idea?

Yıllar önce evimize taşınmadan önce her ayrıntıyı planlayarak,üzerinde günlerce çalışarak evi dekore etmiştik.

http://www.housetohome.co.uk/room-idea/picture/relaxed-bathroom-ideas/2

Years ago, before we moved in our house we'de planned every detail, worked real hard and decorated it.  Our house was bare, as they say it had only 4 walls. We decorated it according to our knowledge, experience and taste that was in line with our budgetery resources. When we first moved in, almost every corner of our house was beautiful. Every body loved it and the very summer after we moved in a family who had come to look for a unfurnished house in our site had had a look inside ours to  obtain an idea had  asked if we would be williing to sell our house to them.  Years passed and.passed and passed... The first year when we moved in we had a to do list of uncritical things that we couldn't complete as of monetery issues and we'de thought we'll do it time. Years ago my husband stated this as " we had a 10 item to do list when we moved in, after these years although we did them all we now have a 200 item to do list". It's really true. Apart from the roof leaking, frames rotting that are the neccessities that need to be attended all parts of the house  got old , weared out... There are things that are durable but I get bored of looking at the same kitchen, same tiles, same design.

When I said we choose everything to our taste the bathroom tiles were an exception. I had to settle with them as of a reason I can't remember now... Because of the tiles, the bathroom furniture was designed accordingly. Although it didn't bother me the innitially  it turned out to be unbearable for me in the last years. Plus, during these years a towel radiator was in the market, I demanded one and as it did not fit in the space of the old radiator, ridiculus pipes covered up the bathroom. If I had the chance I would pull all the bathroom down but unfortunatelly there are lots of things that need attending with a higher priority.

Why am I telling you all these things? I'de previously wrote that I started the whitening operation of the upper flour, Monday this week. My upper flour is bright and shinny now, this does so much affect the light... Just as I was about to finish my painting I had some extra paint left over so I started painting the bathroom cabinets also. At least they are bright and airy now. I neglected to take the former pictures but my bathroom cabinet doors consisted of o fly mesh inserted on frames. As I couldn't take out these fly meshes without tearing them I thought I would paint then white also. They turned out to be horrible so I ripped them of and my frames were left empty. As the dominent colour of my tile borders are red I inserted a red polka dot fabric inside the frames. Then in order to hide the the tangled radiator pipes I made a fabric caddy, again being in colours that would match the border. This bag would also be something to get the hair dryer, hair brushes that were hanging on the wall and the paper towel box on the counter out of sight.

These made me happy only for a short while (a couple of hours) and my belowed red polka dot fabric started to stress me, so I decided to change all the colours. I want more pastel more relaxing colous in the house and as these colours are so unmatching with the border colours, last night I started a research on the internet about how I can paint tiles, if I can find this paint Turkey... I found somethig as bathtub paint. It states that tiles can also be painted with this.  Of course I'm not going to paint all the tiles... I'm not that crazy yet... but I would like to... Only the borders... If I have a pastel colour option that would make me happy but white will also be fine, if only I can get rid of the red flower design. Is there anyone out there with this knowledge or experience??? I found a couple of options on the internet, quite expensive... If it works it's worth the amount but what if it doesn't... Or should I go for the small boxes of glass and tile mediums that I came across every now and then, should I try them?

By the way my husband stated that he'de loved the red bathroom cabinets!!! (I feel a little bit sorry that I did this without asking him...) And even so, today he said "you've made our bathroom really nice"... I couldn't say "I didn't like it, I'm going to change it".

Bir saatte çanta - A bag in an hour

This morning I woke up early as I was intending to go to İstanbul or İzmit for a translation job because of a notice that I'de recieved yesterday. After packing up and finishing my chores I rushed out of the house at around 2pm. Just as I was about to exit the garden gate I recieved a call stating that my work had been cancelled. Inıtially I was a bit upset but I recovered rapidly and started initiating my plan for this week. Maybe you will remember my post " It all started like this". Well my desire to transform all the windows & doors & whatever there is in the house to white colour jumped to the upper flour so I started painting. At night when my husband arrived from work I was covered up in paint and was still continiuing... He also joined me and together we painted till late. Of course we couldn't finish it, but I'm finished for now, I'll continiue tomorrow.

Today I want to share a tutorial that I wrote yesterday. An hour bag... Two bags  in fact... I'de previously made the pattern of this bag for a credit card wallet earlier then I thought what if the same pattern is used on a bag (of course on a larger scale)  And actually I was obsessed if it was possible for me to finish a bag in an hour. Although I didn't look at the clock  I can say it more or less did finish in an hour or maybe it took me just a bit more. Normally I don't neglect to make pockets but this time I didn't, for the sake of finishing on time.
