Sevgilim olur musun? - Will you be my valentine?

I can't remember when we first started to celebrate Valentines day in our country. The only thing I remember is my son was very young and our friends had made a reservation at a restaurant for all of us on Valentines day. We were surprised and said "What is this?" but still went for a nice night out... I don't know if it is recently known in our contry or if the world is rapidly getting involved with the Valentines day maddness. A part of my childhood was in the UK and I have no memories as such... I would remember if there was a celebration as we were never a conservative family... The school would make church trips for the students we would also go with my brother (my mum was persistant that they would not seperate us from the rest of the students, no matter what), we would attend christmas celebrations, whatever the traditions were, we would be part of it as the rest of our school friends.  You can say "You were a kid, how would you know?", but nowadays the internet is exploding with Valentines day activities with kids... So I bet they know...

I don't like these days though... Mother's day, Father's day, Valentines day... I always see that people who don' t have a mum or dad or Valentine feel incomplete, unworthy and get upset... I especially feel sorry for little kids...

Anyway I've written far too long...  The only thing that is important is being able to love... To  feel  loved...and you can't limit this to only one day so may all your days pass in love...

14 February - Valentines day in short

  • After the death of Jesus the Roman emperors demanded every body to believe in the Roman gods but priest Valentine secretly continiued on spreading the teachings of Jesus...
  • Again the Roman Emperors banned the marriage of Roman soldiers because it obstructed their success in a battle but Valentine was secretly marrying them...
  • He performed a miracle and cured a jailer's daughter of her blindeness...
  • Because all of these he was sentenced to death but before the day of his death execution he wrote a farewell not the the jailer's daughter and signed it "From your valentine"...
  • 14 February is known as the day for mating of birds...
  • Around the years of 1800 American Esther Howland sent the first valentines day card...
  • Men who did not have a valentine used to send a unsigned card to a girl they liked, asking "Will you be my valentine? and the girl would try to find the sender-this looks like it's fun-... (I'm watching a serial called "Downton Abbey", there was a scene as such)
  • In Saudi Arabia all red things reminding of Valentines day is forbidden...
By the way altough I think I remember having a post about this tablet case previously I couldn't find it in my blog... Either I hadn't posted it or it dissappeared for a reason or maybe although I did search for it I didn't see it... If this is a second post about the same thing forgive me...

İlk defa heyecanı - Excitement of the first time

I made my first Etsy sale, I've even managed to ship this order to its place. Actually this happened a while ago but as it was in the Gezi events period it didn't come to my mind to share this, I didn't have the energy to do so, although I wanted to do it, I couldn't, as a conclusion I didn't.

Bu İpad çantasını alan kişi Allison. Blogu Rambling Follower...

This Ipad case was bought by a lady named Allison. Her blog is Rambling Follower... With excitement I waited for her to recieve it and give me a feedback, a comment. While I was expecting her to make her comment with an email I recieved a link from her. When I clicked this link I saw more of a feedback that I was hoping for via her blog post.

When Allison wrote this post she'de refered to my one and only blog post that I'de written in June. So a part of her post was about things that we were going through in Turkey. Even her heading was "From Turmoil in Turkey, A Crafter shares a bit of her heart".  She also included in her 11 June dated post the İpad case itself, details of the package, the presentation of myself that I'de written for Etsy, she even wrote that she thought that the felt house keychain that I'de included in the package was a bookmark. I read her post, tears came up. Her introduction about me was so beautiful  and sincere. She even learned the meaning of my name and ended her post by saying "When we want to wage peace, we can start with ourselves, in the home we nurture for ourselves and our beloveds".  So true... My first Etsy sale made me come across a beautiful soul and I will not forget the excitement and nice feelings that I experienced.
Of course earning money is important but what really matters for me is to be able to touch  a beautiful soul, and a beautiful soul to be able to touch me.
