Kartvizitlerimi yaptım, etiketlerimi aldım - I made my name cards, bought my labels.

Kendime kartvizit yaptım. İnternet üzerinde "fotoflexer.com" adında bir site var. O programda istediğin resmi veya resimleri, kesip biçip, yazı ekleyip istediğin ebatta bir "jpeg" resmi oluşturabiliyorsun.
Hani bahsetmiştim Ankara da bloggerlar toplandı diye. Orada, "A Houseful of Happiness" blogunun sahibi Dolunay ile tanıştım ve bu fikri bana o verdi. "İnternette hazır kartvizit kalıpları var, bilgilerini gir, harici diskine kayıt et ve git çıktı al kalın kartona demişti". Ben bu hazır kalıpları pek bulamadım, bulduklarımı da sevemedim o sebeple kendim hazırladım yukarıdaki program aracılığı ile. Bilerek mi bunu yapmıştı bilmiyorum ama Dolunay'ın bu yöntemle kendine hazırladığı kartvizit'ini ben kitap ayracı olarak kullandım ve çok hoşuma gitti, o sebeplede kendi kart vizitlerimde kitap ayracı olma özelliğinde oldu....

I made myself a bussiness card There's a site called "fotoflexer.com" on the internet. On this site you can cut,add a text, etc. to the photos and form a "jpeg" picture. I've already mentioned about the Ankara bloggers meeting. There I met the writer of  the blog "A Houseful of Happiness" Dolunay and she gave me this idea. She said "there are ready made templates on the internet, just type your info, save it to your external disk and go to a copy center and get it coppied on card board". I couldn't find many templates and I didn't like the ones that I found so I prepared myself a design by using this program that I mentioned above. I don't know if her intention was that but I used Dolunay's name card as a bookmark and loved it. So my name cards have a book mark characteristic.

Bir diğer sıkıntım yaptığım ürünlere etiket yapmaktı, bunu da kendim yapmayı düşündüm ama inanılmaz vakit alacaktı o sebeple "hayal mekan" blogunda rastladığım bu etiket ısmarlama sitesinden sipariş ettim. "etiketinolsun.com.tr". Bunlarda yeni etiketlerim ama altını renkli istemekle hata etmişim, hem renk benim gördüğümden farklı geldi, hemde renkli olması her yaptığım ürüne yakışmayacak. Neyse bir sonraki sefer daha renksiz bir şey ısmarlarım.

My other difficulty was that I hadn't been able to find a label for my products, I'de thought of making them myself but that would have made me spend an enourmous amount of time so I ordered some from a site called "etiketinolsun.com.tr". that I had come across the blog "hayal mekan" . And these are my new labels but I think wanting the background to be in colour was a mistake. First of all the colour is different then what I'de seen on my screen and they do not look good on everything that I produce. Anyway next time I will go for something less colourful.

iPhone kılıfı nasıl dikilir? - How to sew an iPhone case

En sonunda telefon kılıfı eğitselimi bitirdim. Bu kılıfları ben pek sevdim, az kumaş la yapılıyor (hatta artan kumaşlar bile kullanılabilir), arkadaşlara hediye etmek güzel oluyor, renkli, neşeli... Günlerim Ankara da geçiyor, gidemedim bir türlü yazlığa... Bu sene oğlum sınavdan çıkınca tüm yaz yazlığa giderim sanmıştım ama iş öyle değilmiş, sonuç bekle, hazırlık atlama sınavı, eksiklerin tamamlanması derken yaz bitti... Neyse belki haftaya atlar giderim...
Bu kılıflardan daha öncede yapmıştım ama görüntü aynı olsa da onlarla çok uğraşmıştım, bugün paylaştıklarım tekniği geliştirilmiş kılıflar ve onların eğitseli, umarım işinize yarar...

At last I managed to finish my iPhone case tutorial. I loved these cases, requires  little fabric ( actually they can be made with fabric left overs), it's nice to give them to friends as a gift, colourful, chearful...My days are going by in Ankara, I couldn't go to the summer house... I'de thought that I would be there all summer after my sons university exam but things didn't go this way, the summer has gone by while I'm waiting for exam results, prep school exams,  etc. Anyway I may go next week.
I've made these cases previously but although they appear to be the same I'de struggled with them a lot, the ones I'm sharing today are ones that I've used a more developed technique and their tutorials, I hope they will be of use...

Eşimin yeğeninin 3 ay önce bir bebeği oldu, Zehra bebek... Hatırlarsınız belki önceki yazılarımdan birinden  Zeynep i... kız kardeşi oluyor kendileri... Annem Zehra bebeğe çok şirin yazlık bir kıyafet almış, benden rica etmişti bu kıyafeti evden alıp paketleyip götürmemi... My husbands niece has had a baby girl 3 months ago, Baby Zehra... You may remember Zeynep from one of my previous posts... She's her sister... My mum had bought a pretty summer outfit for baby Zehra and asked me to get this present from her house, pack it and take it on behalf of her.. (She's in the summer house at the moment) What do you think a gift box will look like when someone who is obsessed wth fabric makes one?

Bu hediye torbasının üzerine kullandığım aplike Sunbonnet Sue adındaki çok klasik bir patchwork şekli... ben bu şekle bayılıyorum ve çok şeyde kullandım,  gümüş kolyesini bile yaptım...

The applique that I used on this bag is a classical patchwork pattern called Sunbonnet Sue... I love this pattern and I've used it on many things.... I even made a silver pendant of it...

Farbalalı çanta - Ruffled bag

Uzun süredir buraya yazma fırsatım olmadı. Mevsimlerden yaz olunca hayat bir şekilde yoğun geçiyor. Ankara'nın şahane ve serin yaz akşamları bana "bunu kaçırmamalıyım, eve girmemeliyim" duygusu veriyor. O sebeptendir akşamları yemeğe misafirlerim geliyor, misafirim olmasa sitedeki arkadaşlarla birimizin bahçesinde toplanılıp oyun oynanıyor yada eşimle beraber dışarıda sohbet eşliğinde yemek yiyor ve 18 sene sonra tekrar baş başa kalacak olmamıza dair alıştırma yapıyoruz. Oğlumuzun üniversite hayatına İstanbul da devam etme kararı ile hepimizin hayatını bir değişim bekliyor. Gündüzleri ise kışın olduğu kadar olmasa da fırsat buldukça bir şeyler yapmaya çalışıyorum.

I haven't had the chance to post for some time. When the season is summer, life turns out to be a bit hectic.. The cool evenngs of Ankara makes me think "I shouldn't miss this, I shouldn't stay inside". For that reason we have friends that come over for dinner, if we don't have friends over for dinner we meet outside at one of our friends garden and play games with neighbours or we chat and eat outside in our garden with my husband and try to get used to being alone after 18 years. The decision our son has made concerning that he we go to a university in İstanbul will be a big transition for all of us. During the day time I try to do some stuff whenever I have a chance. 

Bu aşağıdaki çantayı bitireli oldu bir kaç gün ama bir türlü fırsat bulup ta resmini çekememiştim, sonunda bugün başardım. Bir akşam internette gezerken rastladım bu çantaya ve çok hoşuma gitti. Benim rastladığım sitede yapımına ilişkin bir eğitsel var ama ben kendi yöntemlerimle yaptım, gerçi farbalalarını yerleştirmekle çok uğraştım, bakmış olsaydım eminim çok vakit kazanırdım. Sevdim aslında ortaya çıkan çantayı, her ne kadar nedense bana duş perdesi hissi vermiş olsa da... (Oğlum ise çocuk eteğine benzetti)

It's been a couple of days since I've finished this bag but I didn't have the chance to photograph it, in the end I managed to do so. One night while I was surfing the net I came across this bag and liked it a lot. There is a tutorial in the blog that I came across but I didn't use it and did it my way. But I struggled a lot in positioning the ruffles, if I had looked at the tutorial, that would have saved me a great amount of time. Actually I liked the bag although it does give me a shover curtain feeling... (My son said that it looked like a skirt)

I made loops inside the bag suitable for hanging keychains, wallets, etc...

Halkalar boş kalmasın diye fermuarlı küçük bir çanta yaptım...

I made a zippered small case so that the loops are occuppied... 

Kitap Kılıfı - Book Cover

Günlerdir evimizde bir üniversite tercihi krizi yaşanıyor.  Neyse ki bugün sabah itibariyle karar verildi, tercihler yapıldı ve gönderildi, kriz sona erdi ve hepimiz hafifledik... Deneyimleyen arkadaşlarım demişti de inanmamıştım, haklılarmış, en zor süreçlerden biri bu imiş...
We're going through a university preferance crises for days.  Fortunately this morning decisions were made and sent and the crises ended so we all relaxed... Friends who had gone through this had told me and I hadn't believed them but they were right, this is one of the most tough periods.
Bu kararın yarattığı hafifleme ile beraber bir kitap kılıfı yaptım. Aslında kitap ayracı diye başladım işe ama bir anda kitap kılıfı da yapmak istedim, ikisi birleşti ve bu ayraçlı kitap kılıfı çıktı ortaya. Bu ilk deneme, kapama kısmını biraz kısa yapmışım, tombul bir kitap koyunca kapanmıyor ama yinede ortalama kitaplar için problem yok. Bir sonrakine lastik koymaya karar verdim.
After the relaxation that come with this decision I made a book cover. Actually I started of with a bookmark but suddenly wanted to make a book cover also so the two came together and I have a book cover with a bookmark now. This is my first trial and I made the closure a bit small. When you put a thick book it doesn't close but still there's no problem with average books. I decided to make this with elastic the next time. 
Bitirince kılıfımı, kütüphanede ilk elime gelen kitapla deneme yaptım. Resimlerini o kitap içindeyken çektim. Çektiğim resimlere bakarken kitabı fark ettim. Nietzsche ağladığında- Irvin Yalom. Çok oldu okuyalı ama elimden düşüremediğim kitaplardan biridir.
After I finished the cover I tried it with a book that I picked up from our library. The pictures are taken with this book inside. I realized the book while I was sorting out the pictures that I'de taken. When Nietzsche cries -Irvin Yalom. It's been a long time since I read it but it was one of the books that I couldn't unhand.
Kılfı daha önce yaptığım telefon kılıfı ile benzer yaptım. Cüzdan, çanta ve bilgisayar kılıflarını da yaparsam seri tamamlanacak. Renkleri her ne kadar çok kirlenirse de çok hoşuma gitti, belki yaparım günün birinde...
I made the cover similar with an mobile case that I'de made earlier. The serial will be complete if  I make the wallet, bag and laptop case. Although it can get dirty easily I loved the colours, maybe I will make them one day...
