"Oda" derinliklerinde 2 - In the depths of the "room" 2

Benim hobilerle ilgim tarihteki devirler gibi. Mesela ahşap boyama faaliyetim içerisinde bir dönem durmadan dekopaj yapmışım, sonra dekopajdan sıkılıp resim transferine geçmişim, oradan peçete, varak (bunu ben pek sevemediğim için uzun süremedi) eskitme, vs... Hatırlıyorum da giderdim bir hobi dükkanına, dükkanda ne olduğunu bilemediğim bir şeyi tespit eder, eve getirir, internetten nasıl ve ne yapıldığını öğrenir ve denerdim.  Sonra günün birinde praktiker de gezerken renklerinin cazibesine kapılıp ne olduğunu bilmeden renk renk Fimo hamurunu getirdim eve. Praktikerdekiler bile ezberden bir şeyler anlatmalarına rağmen belli ki bilmiyorlardı. Ben o kadar erken tespit etmiştim ki malzemeyi Türkiyedeki Fimo kitabı (ilk ve tek ti geçmişte) benden 6 ay-1 sene sonra yayınlandı. İnternette çok az bilgi vardı vs. O dönem yabancı bir kaynak olan home and garden TV isimli bir web sitesi keşfederek oradan öğrenmiştim ne yapılır? Nasıl yapılır?' ı. Bu keşifle beraber hayatımdaki taş devri (ahşap) bitti, maden devri (Fimo) başladı.

My interest in hobbies is like the ages in history. For example in my wood staining work I continuously worked dekoupage for a period and then got bored skipped to transfering pictures and then napkin transfers, silver leaf (that wasn't for long because I didn't like it much), antiqueing, etc.... I come to remember myself going to a hobby shop and would spy some material that I had no idea of what it was, bring it back hone, and learn how to use it through the internet and then try. Then one day while I was wondering around in Praktiker I got taken away with the colors of the Fimo and brought them back home with me without any knowledge of what it was. Although they were trying to explain it with their memorized sentences It was obvious that the staff didn't know much about it either. I had discovered the material so early that even the Fimo book in Turkey (it was the one and only book in the past) was published 6 months - 1 year after me. There was little knowledge about it on the internet etc. In that period I discovered a foreign site called home and garden TV and learned what can be done out of it and how it can be done from that source. With this discovery the stone age (wood staining) ended in my life and the metal age (Fimo) started. 

Maden devrinin başlamasıyla beraber ben bulduğum herşeyi Fimo ile kaplamaya başladım...Kutular, çerçeveler, boncuklar, kulplar hatta koca koca sehpalar... Fimo ile kaplanınca bir şey fırınlanması gerekiyor ya, sehpalar tabii ki ev fırınına asla sığmıyor... Eski çalıştığım firmada biliyordum ki koca koca fırınlar var, eşim de hala orada çalışıyor... Garibim kaç tane sehpa taşıdı, pişirtti ve getirdi... Tabii binbir tembih ile (pişirme ısısı, zamanı, üzerinde ki naylon nasıl sökülecek, hava kabarcığı olursa ne yapılacak... gibi) Aşağıdakiler de benim maden devrimin başlangıcına ait kutu örnekleri (yada denemeleri) Nasıl olacak heyecanından kutuların kapaklarını yapıp, altlarını boyamadan bırakmışım...

With the start of the metal age I started to cover everything I find with Fimo... Boxes, frames, beads, knobs and even big side tables... you know you have put it in the oven when working with Fimo, the side tables wouldn't fit... I knew that in my former workplace they had big big ovens and my husband was still working in that place... Poor guy, he had to take them, find someone to cook them and bring them back ... Of course with a lot of warning (the cooking temprature, the timing, how the plastik on top should be peeled, what needs to be done if there are bubbles inside...) The pictures below are some examples (or trials) of the start of my metal age. Because of my excitement on how they will turn up  I've finished the lids but left the painting of the box undone.
